Mr Philip Taylor,
Mr Taylor first started his carpentry skills with
Muir Homes and Construction when he left school.
In the eight years Mr Taylor was employed with
Muir Homes he rose from being an apprentice to
time-served Joiner. During this time Mr Taylor
also attended night school at
Lauder College to
gain a City and Guilds in advanced craft and site
practice as well as an HNC in National Building
Studies. In July 1997 Mr Taylor said farewell to
Muir Homes and set up Taylor Joinery Services.
This was with the help of the
Princes Scottish
Youth Business Trust. In March 1998 Mr Taylor won
joint third place in the regional
Shell Livewire
competition for start-up businesses, this
competition led to Mr Taylor winning a business
growth challenge event in
