Who is

Mr Philip Taylor,
Mr Taylor first started his carpentry skills with Muir Homes and Construction when he left school. In the eight years Mr Taylor was employed with Muir Homes he rose from being an apprentice to time-served Joiner. During this time Mr Taylor also attended night school at Lauder College to gain a City and Guilds in advanced craft and site practice as well as an HNC in National Building Studies. In July 1997 Mr Taylor said farewell to Muir Homes and set up Taylor Joinery Services. This was with the help of the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust. In March 1998 Mr Taylor won joint third place in the regional Shell Livewire competition for start-up businesses, this competition led to Mr Taylor winning a business growth challenge event in October 1999. For the first year of the

companies life Mr Taylor worked alone. As the demand for Taylor Joinery Services started to grow this outstripped the capability's of Mr Taylor to add any more clients to his already bulging order book. It was in August 1998 that a decision was made to expand the company with the addition of a part time assistant and in August 1999 this assistant became full time. As the years have moved on the company has gone from strength to strength and at the moment employ four time-served joiners including Mr Taylor an apprentice and a secretary.
